THE VIMEO AWARDS HONOR THE BEST ORIGINAL VIDEOS ONLINE.
This year, the Festival + Awards will have more of everything: categories, prizes, talks, workshops, screenings, and surprises. We’ve already introduced our four new categories, and we’re also granting three honorary awards: the Social Change Award, for a project that has used online video to catalyze social impact; the Digital Maverick Award, for someone who has changed the landscape of online video; and the New Creator Award, given to the newcomer who impressed us most during the past 18 months.
What else is different this year? Grants of $5,000 will be awarded to the winners of each category, and a grant of $25,000 will be presented to the winner of the Best Video Award. The Awards will take place at NYU Skirball Center in New York City.
We’re changing it up this year and doing the Awards first. We feel it’s important to celebrate the winners throughout the festival and make them an essential part of the programming. This also gives people the chance to see the winning videos and participate in events with the creators.

This coming May, Modular are flying out two of our brightest young things from the UK to premiere their live show to an Australian audience for the very first time, alongside an act set to release one of the year’s breakthrough records.
